Tables, chairs, desks, cabinets, case pieces and mixed-material furniture can be stabilized, repaired and visually restored according to the piece’s construction, age and design intent. Loose mortise-and-tenon joints, failed dowels, broken members, split wood and other structural failures are repaired with methods appropriate to the original construction. When a prior repair has compromised the piece, the assembly can be evaluated for a more durable corrective approach rather than simply immobilized with more adhesive.

Lifted, missing or damaged veneer, decorative inlays and marquetry can be repaired or recreated with attention to species, cut, figure, pattern and surrounding color. The objective is visual continuity while retaining sound original material wherever the treatment allows.

Material, Detail & Finish Judgment
Mortise-and-tenon, doweled and other furniture joints are evaluated according to how they were designed to carry load. Wood-to-wood repairs, fitted components and Dutchman inlays can be used where appropriate rather than relying on cosmetic filler.
Decorative surfaces require both material knowledge and visual judgment. Species, cut, figure, grain direction, pattern, carving character and surrounding color all influence whether a repair belongs.
Not every old surface should be stripped. Depending on significance and condition, treatment may involve localized touch-up, finish recovery, color and sheen matching, or deliberate full refinishing.

Removable furniture is usually best restored in Olek's equipped Orange, New Jersey shop, where craftsmen and finishing resources work under controlled conditions. Built-in woodwork and architectural elements may call for on-site assessment, selective removal, site work or reinstallation. Local pickup is coordinated across the NYC and New Jersey region, with specialty-carrier coordination for furniture traveling farther.
